Milk Yield and Reproductive Traits of Shami and Kilisxhair Goat Crossbred Genotypes Under Semi-Intensive Conditions
2 Mustafa Kemal Üniversitesi Ziraat Fakültesi Tarla Bitkileri Bölümü, Hatay - In this study, some reproductive and milk yield characteristics of Damascus goats and crossbreds of KilisxHair goat were compared under additional feeding conditions. It was also evaluated that Damascus goats could be an alternative breed for increasing regional goat milk production. The animal material used in the study consisted of 20 head of Damascus goats and 20 head of Kilis goat and Hair goat crossbreds. The goats were grazed in the same pasture during the day and consumed 1 kg/day concentrate at evening time from one month before mating until the end of mating and starting one and half month before kidding during lactation. Single, twin and triplet kidding rates were detected as %30 and %50, %60 and %50, %10 and %0 for Damascus and the crossbred goats, respectively. It the study birth weight, weaning weight and 180-day milk yield after suckling period with 90 days were calculated as 3.5 ± 0.56 and 3.5 ± 0.65 kg, 10.1 ± 1.91 and 10.1 ± 1.73 kg, 323.2±17.19 and 298.6±17.10 litter, with the same genotype order. As a result, Damascus goats gave more offspring and milk under semi intensive management condition.
