A study on the body measurements and live weight of Karacabey Montafon cows

- The object of this study is to determine the morphological characters of the cows from Karacabey Montafon Breed. For this purpose, several body measurements and body indexes were brought in to consideration.

The data of this study was formed by the body measurements taken from 49 cows in lalahan Animal Breeding Research Institute in 1959. The data was analised statistically.

The body measurements and live weight were given with the table 1 and some body indexes with the table 2.

The results have been compared to the other similar studies on this subject.

As Karacabey Montafon cows in our Institude compared to Brown Swiss cows in Switzerland by body measurements, the latters were found to be larger than the fromers. But, the comparison of two breeds using their body indexes has indicated a close similarity between them by body conformation. Keywords :
