Breeding studies in animal breeding began with the domestication of animals about 10,000 years ago. Important genetic advances have been provided on many characters in various animal groups with various breeding methods. Molecular methods have begun to come to the forefront with the identification the characters about the yield related to genes and loci in animal breeding. DNA based selection methods have provided important genetic advances on characters. Thanks to advances in technology and science, it has been reported that only the genotype information of animals can be used to `Estimated Genomic Breeding Values` with a large number of markers. This method, known as Genomic Selection, has become possible over the last 10 years with genome analysis and SNP chip technology in farm animals. Characters with low inheritance, costly and difficult to measure are analyzed during generations and selection can be done with reliable up to 90 % and low cost.
