Effects of restricted and unrestricted feeding on the fattening performances of east Anatolian Red (E.A.R) and Montofon x EAR young bulls
Ad.libitum (undestricted) feeding sub-groups and 3 % dry matter BS x EAR. Sub-group were slaughtered in 112 days, other sub-groups in 140 days in order to attain slaughtering weight.
Average daily weight gain was found 839 g, 750 g, 616 g in ad.libitum, 3 % dry matter, 2 % dry matter sub-groups of EAR and 1018 g, 1009 g 759 g of BS x EAR. Breed and feeding level differences were statistically significant (P<0.01).
90 dry matter feed consuption per kg weight gain was found 7.700, 6.356, 5.162 in ad.libitum, 3 % dry matter, 2 % dry matter sub-groups of EAR and 8.426, 6.262, 5.586 of BSx EAR. Feeding level differences were statistically significant (P<0.05).
Since feed staff prices are too high comparing with slaughter animals prices in Turkey, cost analysis has shown that restricted feeding was more economical than underestricted (ad.libitum) feeding fattening particularly in native stock.
