Milk production increases up to 4 – 5 years of age and there after shows a gradual decline. Effect of age was found to be statistically significiant; age correction factors have been calculated and tabulated. Date of lambing dit not influence milk production significantly (r= - 0.04) but correlation between length of lactation and milk production was fairly high (0.52).

Correlations between milk production (estimated from 2 weekly controls) and amount of milk at the first three controls, between milk production and maximum daily milk yield, and between milk production values estimated from 2 – and 4 – weekly controls were 0.76, 0.69 and 0.99, respectively. The use of these relationships in selecting for milk production is discussed. Keywords :
