A total of 210 milk samples of Jersey cows were used to determine ∞ si-casein, Β-casein,
k-casein and Β-lactoglobulin phenolypes and their gene frequencies.
Polyacrylamid-gel tecnique was used to determine milk protein phenolypes. Two alleles were
found in each iocus namely B and C at ∞ si-Cn locus, A and B at Β-Cn, k-Cn and Β-Lg loci. Only the
observed distribution of ∞ si-Cn genolypes differed significantly from the expected.
The highest average milk yield with 2567.3 kg was found and the lowest with 2467.8 kg in the k-
Cn B phenolype. However, the analyses of variance revealed that there was no significant relationship
between milk protein polymorphism and first lactation milk yield.
