Prevention of Calf Diseases

Unintentionally death that is not under control of the animal owner or illness of cattle used for fattening, dairy and breeding leads to significant economic loss and loses of animal welfare. This review article has focused on reasons of calf deaths due to infection for pre and post-natal calving and impedes calf death protective ways. Although basic biosecurity measures are a common strategy for preventive to halt calf death, it is also necessary to develop different protection and control strategies for each disease specific. A healthy environment is compulsory to halt calf death. Surveillance, determination of the necessary measures, vaccinations, regular and reliable recording, and culling strategies are important manoeuvres to establish of control and/or eradication programme in combating and protect calf from diseases. As a result, role of veterinarians, colostrum, biosecurity, vaccination, raising awareness of the animal owner, correct identification of the causative agents play a crucial role for protecting the animals from the disease.
