Feeding of the Foals
Colostrum must be given to a new born foal within the 36 hours after parturation. Otherwise the foal must be supprorted with vitamins, polivalans serum and antibiotics.
Weaning of foals is realised when foals are between 5 to 6 months old. If a foal needs to be fed with milk replacer , this diet should be given as frequently as possible in fewer quantity.
To nourish a foal with excess amount of carbohydrate causes irreversible skeleton defects. Because of this reason, the supplementation of fat to the rations is important at these periods.
