¹ Lalahan Hayvancılık Merkez Araştırma Enstitüsü - Laboratory animals has some advantages like shorter period of sexuel cycle, oestrus and pregnancy, easier management and lower cost. Also experiments on laboratory animals can be applied succesfully in all seasons of the year. Laboratory animals have been used extensively for basic research in drug, toxicology, mycology, tissue and organ culture, immunology, oncology and reproductive biology. Female mice and rats (Aschheim- Zondek method) and adult female rabbits (Friedman test) are used to diagnose human pregnancy. Laboratory animals which will be used in the scientific researchs must be a good physical condition. The physical condition and performance of laboratory animals depends on such factors as their living space, orderly exercise, microenvironment and diet.
