Rules on feeding stuffs are needed to ensure agricultural productivity and sustainability and to protect public, animal,
environment health and animal welfare. Cases of drugs resistance in humans have frightened consumers and forced the
livestock industry to change production practices. Hence it will be important in future to find new ways to overcome these
challenges and maximise performance. Following several amendments, directive about the banned hormones, antibiotic
growth promoters, anticoccidials and drugs in compound animal feed with 25847, 26056, 26511 number legals were
implemented on June 16, 2005, January 21, 2006 and May 3, 2007. The directive contains that the use of all hormones and
antibiotic growth promoters banned for animal compound feed in Turkey. Certain coccidiostats and other medicinal
substances are legally allowed additives in pre-mixtures and compound feeding stuffs for certain species and categories of
animals.
