¹ Afyonkarahisar Kocatepe Üniversitesi Veteriner Fakültesi Biyokimya Anabilim Dalı, Afyonkarahisar - Several plants play an important role in curing the diseases with the phytochemical contents of them. Therefore novadays, contents of chemical matters of plants and their protective effects on disease are investigated. The major commercial sources of steroid saponin is Yucca schidigera. Recent years, the saponin and phenolic matters contents of Yucca schidigera and their effects on human and animal health are one of the most studied subject. In this review, the effects of contents of the saponin and phenolic matters of Yucca schidigera and their hypocholesterolemic and antioxidant properties have been discussed.
