The effect of thyme oil on pregnancy rates that used by intrauterine in cows with endometritis
2 Kafkas Üniversitesi, Veteriner Fakültesi, Dölerme ve Suni Tohumlama Anabilim Dalı, Kars - Aim of our study was to investigate the efficacy of essential oil of thyme applied to intrauterine treatment of chronic endometritis. The study material consisted of 77 cows with chronic endometritis and randomly divided into 4 groups. Group 1 (n=21; GI) administered PGF2α. Group 2 (n=20; GII) peracetic acid, Group 3 (n=18; GIII) thyme essential oil, Group 4 (n=18; GIV, control group) normal saline, was applied. As a result of GI, GII, GIII and GIV first insemination pregnancy rates were 19%, 35%, 66.6% and 11.1%, respectively (P<0.01). Total pregnancy rates were 71.5%, 85%, 94.4% and 11.1%, respectively (P<0.001). As a result, conventional drugs used to treat endometritis thyme essential oil may be used as an alternative.
