- Guar (Cyamopsis tetragonoloba) is a single-year-old leguminous, drought-tolerant, summer-growing, and cultivated for human and animal nutrition. The primary product of guar bean is guar gum and the guar meal which is a feed ingredient having a relatively inexpensive and high protein content since it is produced as a residual by-product after the gum has been removed. The guar bean meal also has antimicrobial activity due to the content of galactomannan and saponin which is usually used instead of soybean meal because of its high protein content. In this review, information on the production, nutrient content, anti-nutritional factors and the utilization of guar bean meal that can be an alternative to soybean meal with high protein content in the feed of ruminant animals and is a by-product of the guar bean will be given for ruminant animals. Keywords : Guar, guar bean meal, ruminant nutrition, alternative feed
