- The purpose of this study was to investigate hatching results of Ostrich eggs produced in the Middle Anatolian Region. Hens lay from March to August in every year. The average egg weight were found as 1583 g. The egg weight from new layers were lesser than the olders. The average infertilite rate were found as 18.63% (17.61% for the first year, and 20.00% for the second year). The average incubation period was determined as 43.06 days. In early months of breeding season, the incubation period was longer (45.3-47.6 days) but it was shortened from April to the August. At the first and second year the hatching yield was 66.19% and 60.00%, and the hatchability were 80.35% and 75.00% respectively. The losing rate in the egg weight were during the incubation 15.66% and 13.83% for the first and second years respectively. The average chick weight were 1067 g, and it consist of 65-67% of egg weight. The malpositions and embryonic mortality rates for first and second years were 8.10% and 5.81%, and 14.29% and 15.48% respectively.
